What Does the Red Wolf Eat?
Red wolves, which are native to the southeastern United States, are carnivorous animals that primarily feed on small to medium-sized mammals.
Their diet includes a variety of prey species, including rodents, rabbits, and birds, as well as larger prey such as deer and feral hogs.
Red wolves are known to be opportunistic feeders and will also feed on carrion (dead animals) and occasionally on fish or reptiles.
Like other wolf species, red wolves hunt in packs and use a variety of tactics to pursue and capture their prey, including chasing, stalking, and ambushing.
